description

This is Minneapolis South High School, viewed from near 31st Street and 21st Avenue South. You are looking at the northeast side of the building. Students are outside because it's lunchtime.

I think I'm in this picture...
note the dying grass. As of today, it is in even worse shape (and not simply because it is under 3 ft. of snow).
In the fall, they began covering the field in large amounts of fertilizer. this being the area we eat our lunch, many were rightfully uncomfortable.

The back wall is blank, this is obviously early 2000, before the mural. The painting is little improvement; the school is still gives the feel of a prison.

i like south high..but sometimes our school can look a little ghetto. this field kinda makes it look bad, but people who go there knows that its a nice school

I am amazed by the artistic mural on the wall (not shown in picture). However, the word diversity is evident, and misrepresents the nature of the school. Being a former student, I realized South High was, and is, in no way diverse. In fact, South consists of several programs aimed to segregate the students based on class and race. But hey, maybe south aimed to depict lunch as diverse, like in the picture.

I think South high has a lot of good students but I personally didn't like the school. I have a lot of good friends that go to South. But South is a ghetto school. And I think they need to get some windows because when it is hot out you have no windows to open. And when the air conditioning takes about 2 weeks to cool the school down it is stupid the students basically roast. Well bye everyone

THE DAY OF THAT PICTURE IT WAS REALLY HOOT OUT, THERE WAS ALWAYS STUDENTS OUT AND ABOUT, I WAS SOMETIMES,SOUTH HIGH IS GREAT I WOULD SAY, SOME OF THE TEACHERS ARE COOL, AND SOME OF THE STAFF ARE ALSO.

I think that this picture actually makes our school look a lot nicer than it is. There's a big, green field for the kids to play on and the walls are a clean white. Ok.

Hated this extremely cliquey high school. And I agree with the previous poster who stated that this school was in no way diverse. If you look at a South High yearbook, it's rows after rows of white faces with a little color sprinkled in here and there.

I think south is a great school i went there in 03 and 04 and i loved it although there is ALOT of cliques like um shall we say the balcony kids..if you went there you know what im talking about!

I too, think I am in this picture in one of the coveted shady spots near the building on the right! I remember signing yearbooks and hanging out in a circle of friends on the lawn in the shade!!
